About Head Start & Early Head Start
Head Start and Early Head Start are more than education programs — they are a pathway to opportunity for children and families.
These federally funded, income-based programs are provided at no cost to qualifying families in Allegany County, NY. Our mission is to ensure every child, regardless of circumstance, has the same chance to grow, learn, and succeed.
Our approach brings together:
-
Early Learning & Development – School readiness from birth to age five with literacy, language, social-emotional growth, and individualized support.
-
Health & Wellness – Screenings, nutritious meals, physical activity, and mental health support for resilience.
-
Family Engagement & Opportunity – Families are leaders here, with resources and advocacy opportunities to build a stronger future.
Head Start isn’t just about preparing children for school — it’s about helping families break barriers, build confidence, and thrive together.
